SOON TO BE ERASED FOREVER if City Commissioners are allowed to complete the planned "Multi-Use Path" in 2024! Help STOP this by signing the Petition TODAY!
Scenic…Authentic…Historic…and Beautiful
Beach Drive is scenic and special, and it is authentic, with its trees and vegetation accurately representing the look and capturing the feel of north Florida. Any project which would remove trees and native vegetation or add pavement would be detrimental to its intrinsic beauty. These trees have grown to maturity and provide a striking canopy and filtered sunlight. Removing old growth and planting new would completely change the stately character and aesthetic value of Panama City’s favorite drive. Eliminating our existing tree canopy will allow for increased hurricane damage our city does not need. Help Preseverbeachdrive keep our shores safe and beautiful.

WHAT TO EXPECT IF THE PATH IS BUILT:
10 FOOT LANES in both directions
Excessive vehicle congestion (13,000 vehicles travel West Beach Drive Daily)
How will our community safety transit west beach drive with their 20+ foot boats with trailers to access the marina?
True cost of the path not being disclosed to the public includes:
Additional police patrols
Trash removal
Annual road, sign, piping, lighting, paint and amenity (bike repair stations, chairs, etc.) maintenance IF the FDOT grants the road to the city it currently does not pay to repair or replace (NO FEMA $$ for repair)
City Tax $$$ will pay to modify/widen roads for re-routing Chevron funded fuel transportation trucks
Chevron will incur costs for rerouting vehicles from West Beach drive to another location. Will Chevron absorb the cost for transiting a new route or the people in Panama City?
If Chevon moves from their present location due to this path complicating access, ask your city official what that cost is. This data is in a report your commissioner has access to. Ask your commissioner for a copy of the report and read it for yourself.
Possible law suits
IMPEDING COMMERCE
10 Foot roads will not allow large tandem semi tractors to travel safely
Safety Issues:
Emergency vehicles may have to transit 10 foot lanes at high speeds
Golf Carts on the sidewalks; may be allowed based on current city approach to carts
Delayed emergency vehicle response times due to traffic and route changes
Fuel Trucks and other large vehicles may be re-routed to streets that encounter greater accidents than on West Beach Drive, railroad tracks crossing, schools and church's.
With planned fire hydrants on the beach side, any hoses used by Firemen laid across traffic lanes STOP TRAFFIC in both directions
Think about this, fire hydrants on the beach side which are opposite where homes are. There are already fire hydrants on the north side of beach drive therefore why move them further away from homes, across a road that encounters 13,000 vehicles traveling per day.
Remove of over 240 mature well rooted trees (Natural Hurricane Barrier)
Little to no parking therefore plan to park in our neighbors yards and roadways
There's more...
